Main Market Square

The heart of the district is the Main Market Square – the largest medieval square in Europe, surrounded by historic tenements and palaces.
Here, in the city’s core, rise the majestic Cloth Hall, once a center of trade, and the Gothic St. Mary’s Basilica, from which the famous bugle call rings out every hour.
From the Barbican to Wawel Hill
The Old Town is not just the market square. It’s also a labyrinth of picturesque streets, such as Floriańska or Grodzka, which lead to the mighty Barbican gate and Wawel Hill, where the Royal Castle and Cathedral reign. The entire area is surrounded by the Planty – a park created on the site of former defensive walls, forming a green oasis and an ideal place for strolls.

The Old Town, a living museum
Krakow’s Old Town is a living museum where every building, square, and street tells its own story. It’s a place where history intertwines with the present, and the atmosphere of bygone eras lingers in the air, captivating tourists from around the world.
